Irish Women’s Hockey heroes join forces with STATSports

The Irish Women’s Hockey team, fresh off the back of their summer heroics, have signed a long-term partnership with STATSports.

It means that they now join the Men’s national team in using our revolutionary Apex tracking unit to measure and improve their performance.

The World Cup silver medallists brought the country to a standstill a few months back with an incredible run that saw them make the final at London’s Olympic Park.

Graham Shaw’s side were heartbreakingly beaten by a fantastic Dutch outfit, ranked number one in the world. But the players gave a great account of themselves in the showpiece.

It shot the team up to eighth in the world rankings. But Shaw and his team are not resting on their laurels in a bid to improve their fortunes even further.

The use of the Apex unit across both the men’s and women’s team will enable an all-encompassing approach to the monitoring of every player within the two squads.

The high-resolution units measure physical metrics including distance, speed, acceleration, deceleration, high-speed running, load, and heart rate.

Rich Byrne, STATSports Head of Business Development was delighted to add the team to the client roster.

“It’s a real coup to land the Irish Women’s Hockey team. They captured the imagination of the country with their achievement over the summer, and we’re looking forward to aiding them in their bid for further glory.”
